The Spark : How Passion Ignited My Journey as a First-Generation Jeweler

My journey as an artist began long before I started designing jewelry. Growing up, art was my natural language. Even before I could write, I used my hands to express myself—sketching, molding clay, and experimenting with different materials. This love for creation led me to pursue fine arts, which then expanded to pottery, papermaking, and eventually jewelry design.

During my time at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, I immersed myself in design, honing my technical skills and refining my artistic vision. However, it wasn’t until I discovered gemstones that everything truly clicked. In 2012, I became a certified grader of gemstones and diamonds from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), solidifying my expertise in jewelry-making and giving me the foundation I needed to launch Manner.

At Manner, jewelry is more than a product; it’s an art form. Each piece reflects my passion for natural materials, craftsmanship, and, of course, the city of Jaipur, which has always been a source of inspiration. We create handmade, bespoke jewelry that tells stories and becomes a part of the narrative of those who wear it.

From Hobby to Hustle: Turning a Passion for Jewelry Into a Business

I never imagined turning my love for art and jewelry into a full-fledged business. But after years of working with some of the most respected names in the jewelry industry, I felt the call to build something of my own. That was when Manner was born.

The initial journey was challenging—there was a constant balancing act between creative passion and the practicalities of running a business. But I learned quickly. I began designing jewelry with a unique focus on craftsmanship, quality, and the use of natural, sustainable materials. At Manner, we don’t just make jewelry—we create pieces that embody personal expression and individuality.

Building a business from the ground up involved a lot of trial and error, but each experience taught me more about the art of jewelry-making and the importance of staying true to one’s values. Today, Manner is a brand that represents not only the beauty of handcrafted jewelry but also a deep respect for craftsmanship and sustainability.

Crafting a Brand: How I Built a Unique Jewelry Identity

Creating Manner was a deeply personal process. It wasn’t just about designing jewelry; it was about crafting an identity that reflected my passion for art, my connection to Jaipur, and my commitment to sustainability.

From the beginning, I knew I wanted to create jewelry that was timeless, meaningful, and socially responsible. Manner is built on the foundation of these values. Our designs combine the best of traditional craftsmanship with contemporary flair, creating pieces that stand out but are also wearable and timeless.

Our jewelry is not just about aesthetics; it's about telling a story. Each piece is handmade, and every gemstone is selected with care. We aim to build a community that thrives on individuality, and our designs reflect this philosophy. At Manner, we embrace the idea that jewelry should not just be worn but experienced—a piece that becomes a part of your identity.

Mastering the Craft: How I Became a Skilled Artisan

Though I had no formal family legacy in jewelry-making, I was determined to carve my own path. I’ve always believed in the importance of self-learning, so I dedicated myself to mastering the art of jewelry design, from gemstone grading to the intricate techniques used in crafting each piece.

My training at the Gemological Institute of America in 2012 was a pivotal moment. It equipped me with the technical knowledge I needed to confidently enter the world of fine jewelry. But becoming a skilled artisan is about more than just knowledge—it’s about patience, persistence, and refining your craft over time.

I’ve always seen myself as a student of the craft, constantly learning, experimenting, and evolving. Today, the jewelry we create at Manner is a reflection of years of dedication to mastering this craft, and I’m proud to see how far we've come.

The Impact of Family: How My Roots Shaped My Journey as a First-Generation Jeweler

Starting Manner as a first-generation jeweler wasn’t always easy, but my family’s unwavering support was my bedrock. While no one in my family worked in jewelry, their dedication to creativity and entrepreneurship deeply influenced my journey.

My parents instilled in me the values of hard work, resilience, and the belief that anything worth doing requires patience and commitment. They may not have understood every facet of the jewelry industry, but their support never wavered, and it gave me the confidence to pursue my passion.

Being a first-generation jeweler has its challenges, but it’s also incredibly empowering. At Manner, I feel like I’m creating a new legacy—one that’s not bound by tradition, but is shaped by the future of artisanal, sustainable jewelry. It’s a journey that I’m proud to walk, not only for myself but for my family as well.

Sustainability in Jewelry: Why I Chose Ethical Practices as a First-Generation Jeweler

At Manner, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword—it’s the foundation of our brand. As a first-generation jeweler, I had the unique opportunity to build a brand with values that matter: responsibility, integrity, and respect for the planet.

Our commitment to sustainability starts with sourcing ethically mined gemstones and using natural materials whenever possible. We believe that every piece of jewelry should be crafted with care—not only for the wearer but for the environment as well. We strive to minimize waste, use recycled metals, and ensure that our processes are as eco-friendly as possible.

The jewelry industry has long been associated with waste and unsustainable practices, but I wanted to create something different—jewelry that people could wear with pride, knowing that it was made with respect for the earth and the people who create it. Our designs reflect this philosophy, blending luxury with responsibility, and creating pieces that are not only beautiful but also have a positive impact on the world around us.

Sustainability is not a choice for us at Manner; it’s a responsibility we embrace wholeheartedly.
